German: Inne- und Ausschauhalten, das bietet sich am berühmten Aussichtspunkt, der so genannten “Genfer Rutsche”, mehr als an. Eine neue Perspektive, eine neue Sicht ist manchmal immens wichtig für Glücksritter (wie uns).

German: Eddie LaFleur, berühmtester Sohn der großartigen Stadt Genf, machte Miguel Indurain mehrmals Beine an den berüchtigten Alpes d´Huez (eher so in den frühern 90igern). Die Stadtväter schufen ihm ein Unterwasserdenkmal, welches eines solchen Vorzeigesportlers würdig ist.

English: Even though Geneva still being the central European capital of finance, some of its inhabitants have nothing left but their old “Marathon” bikes. They throw them into the river (no matter which one), hoping for federal subsidies to buy new ones.

German: Die Genfer “Fasnet”, eine der urigsten Formen von Karneval diesseits der Karpaten, wäre nicht denkbar ohne der Stadt älteste Zunft der “Bibblisgischter”, deren “Larve” (Maske) hier von Franziskus, unserem Führer durch das Freiluftmuseum “Genfer Gassen”, improvisatorisch nachgestellt wird.

German: Quizfrage: Welches internationale Verbrechersyndikat hat sich hier mit Hilfe nordkoreanischer Kindersklaven und tonnenweise Mayagold ein überdimensioniertes Hauptquartier gebaut; starrend vor Macht und Asbest?
Tipp: Es ist nicht die FIFA!

English: The Glass Front Hostel was nothing but a dissapointment. A guy called “Michel” (strange name for a man!) opened the glass door and told us glassily to “hop off”.
And so we hopped around in the fields like rabbits. Until it got dark.


German: Alex und Luise zeigten uns “ihr” Genf. Da war wirklich alles rund (bis auf die eckigen Dinge)! Schüssi Geneva; Servus, Grüezi und: Baba!

English: Back in the UK everything was great, but here in Geneva: hair is rubbish.
